October: Making Connections
It has been a busy first month of school! The first two weeks were a time of adjustment and coordination for children, families, and teachers. By the third week, the children began finding stability and were able to end September with more independence and eagerness to learn.
Starting in October, we will begin a project on “Cherishing What is Precious”. The core goals of the project will be to help children recognize what is precious to them (people, belongings, nature), learn to cherish their own treasures while also respecting and caring for others’ treasures, and to develop gentle hands and a caring attitude in daily routines, play, and interactions. A more detailed plan of the project will be posted later on the school website blog and we will inform you when it is posted. Please let us know of you would like to volunteer for any special activity after reading through the project plan!
With the drop in temperature and changing leaves, we can see and feel that autumn is really here! During the months of October and November, we will collect autumn leaves, twigs, stones, acorns, and other natural materials. They will be used in upcoming activities. Please enjoy collecting them with the children and bring them to school whenever you can!

Birthday Treats: We love to invite parents to celebrate the children’s birthday together at our school and the children are always especially excited for the birthday treats! If your child has any allergies or any other dietary restrictions, please send a pack (one dozen) of separate treats for us to keep in the freezer that we can give to them for each celebration.
Shared Calendar: We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Grace for organizing and updating our shared calendar! At Little Atelier, we are always grateful for the many helping hands that parents generously offer even in the midst of their busy schedules. Your support truly enriches our community.
Sometimes, spontaneous activities may involve paint or other materials. Aprons will be provided, but since spills and splatters can still happen, please dress your child in comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting messy.
Important Dates:
From 10/8 to 10/17, Ms, Soyeon will be out for a personal schedule. During this time, Ms. Esther will be directing the class, Ms. Erie will continue to teach and support alongside Ms. Esther, and Ms. Dania will be joining as a third teacher.
School will be closed on Monday 10/13 in observance of Indigenous People’s Day
Autumn Festival: We will celebrate the autumn season with a potluck party on Friday 10/31!
Children, families, and teachers are all welcome to dress up in costume. Please pack a change of comfortable clothes for children to nap in after the party.
Children who do not have class that day are also welcome to join with their parents. Please arrive by 10:00 AM and plan to leave together after the party ends.
More details will be sent out in a separate message.
