October: Fall Is Here!
As we welcome the new month of October, the children have become more familiar with the school routine. During their first month of school, the children learned about sharing, taking turns, and everyday school routines. They also practiced practical fine motor skills, such as folding cloths and pouring water. In addition, they explored different art materials, including paint, watercolor ink, and oil pastels.
This month, the children will continue working on their first school project, “The Language of Leaves.” We have asked all children to collect leaves and bring them to school for our group discussions. We have also encouraged them to observe and analyze trees and fallen leaves whenever they are outdoors.
During our group discussions, the children will explore the different parts of a leaf and their purposes. They will also learn three important steps to deepen their thinking:
I Notice…
I Think…
I Wonder…
We are excited to continue exploring “The Language of Leaves” with the children! One of our goals is to inspire them to learn more about leaves outside of school and to help them recognize that the tools they have learned to use when thinking about leaves can also be applied to other areas of interest.
